2018 RISE - Andrea Cadioli
This year, the LA Design Festival is launching a new awards program to honor outstanding student, recent graduate, and post-graduate work. Faculty from local and regional design education institutions are invited to nominate students through an open, public, online process.
Andrea Cadioli was nominated by Director of Graduate Programs at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), Elena Manferdini.
Hailing originally from Aosta, Italy, Andrea Cadioli was thrust into the limelight in 2008 when the emo pop band that he was in, Dari, became an internet sensation with their song Wale (Tanto Wale). He was also a TV presenter for EMI and MTV.
Eventually, he went on to study architecture at Polytechnic of Turin, before moving to China where he attended Tsinghua University and obtained a Masters in Architecture. He interned then went on to work as an architect for two years at Plasma Studio, an award-winning architecture and design practice located in London, Beijing and Bolzano.
In 2016, Andrea was one of two students to receive SCI-Arc’s first-ever European Union scholarship which fully funds the students’ 2-year Master of Architecture Program. Andrea will graduate from the program in June 2018.
